The NWT Council of Persons with Disabilities (NWT CPD) strives to fulfill our mission to achieve self-determination and full citizenship for persons with disabilities. We do this by promoting awareness, opportunities, choices and participation in all aspects of life in the Northwest Territories. The Council is committed to helping build caring, inclusive and responsible NWT communities. The NWT CPD defines a disability as any degree of physical, sensory, psychiatric, cognitive, intellectual or learning limitation which causes difficulty in the usual activities of daily living.
To achieve the guiding principles of individuality, self-determination and community inclusion, the Council offers a number of programs and services for NWT residents. Board positions, committees and services have expanded to a number of NWT communities. The staff are dedicated, caring individuals, who will go above and beyond their duties to meet the needs of clients and goals of the organization. The Council, celebrating its 30th anniversary year, would not have the longevity it does without the support and commitment of NWT residents, volunteers, funders and non-government partnerships,
